Ruth Goldberg Jaskow, at 101, has shared her unique eating habits, which might be contributing to her long life.
Ruth Goldberg Jaskow, aged 101, lives in New York City and is a former teacher. She was married to Lou Jaskow, a World War II veteran who lived until 103, and she aims to surpass his age.
Genetics plays a role in longevity, but lifestyle choices are also crucial.
In an interview with Business Insider, Ruth offered her advice for living a long life.
She encourages people to enjoy life, as she does through spending time with family and crafting jewelry.
Research, such as a 2015 US study on happiness and longevity, supports the idea that a positive mindset can contribute to health and longevity.
Ruth has expressed a desire to outlive her husband, who passed away at 103.
“You just need to keep moving,” she advises.
Despite her age, Ruth maintains an active lifestyle, having been a dancer and tennis player in her youth.
She doesn’t follow a strict diet, choosing instead to eat what she desires because she loves food.
Now, that’s a philosophy many can appreciate.
Ruth and her late husband, Lou, shared many happy years together.
On Ruth’s birthday, her retirement home posted a tribute on Facebook, celebrating her life: “Ruth Ella Goldberg Jaskow, at 101, is living proof that age is just a number.
“She met her husband Lou at 16 during a summer at Lake Mahopac. They married during World War II, and Ruth’s happiest moment was seeing Lou return from the war.
“Ruth’s positive outlook contributed to 79 years of happiness together. They moved to Atria Rye Brook when she was 96 and Lou was 99, celebrating their 77th anniversary among other milestones until Lou’s passing at 103.”
The post concluded by highlighting Ruth’s continued active lifestyle, stating, “Ruth continues her joyful life at Atria Rye Brook, starting each day with exercises that inspire those around her. Her vibrant spirit proves to us all that age truly is just a number.”
