Following his performance, Kid Rock participated in a live TV interview with BBC News, where he discussed Trump’s inauguration.
During the broadcast, Kid Rock inquired about the reporter’s location and activities, to which Perry responded: “I’m standing on a rooftop in these very very chilly conditions. We’ll be on air for 12 hours so I don’t think I’ll have anywhere near as fun a day as you have planned for yourself! That sounds like you got the better deal here indeed.”
Taking a drag from his cigarette, the musician remarked that he couldn’t actually “see” the reporter, and therefore couldn’t see what she “look[s] like”.
Laughing awkwardly, the reporter replied: “Well, I look like I’m ready to hit the slopes. I can tell you, I’m in full-on ski gear here with my hat, gloves, the whole thing, ready to rock because you’ve got to be wrapped up against the elements, don’t you?”
Continuing the conversation, Rock said: “I love to go skiing. You sound sexy, you want to go with me?”
Momentarily taken aback, Perry hesitated and slightly stuttered before moving on to conclude the interview: “Well, we won’t get into that right here. So, no skiing today, we’ve got a day of broadcasting to do.”
The clip of this exchange quickly went viral, drawing numerous reactions on social media.
One Twitter user commented: “Kid Rock flirting on BBC News is some of the most awkward television you’ll see this year.”
Another user praised Perry, saying, “Well handled @CaitrionaPerry.”
A third person remarked: “TV license so worth it.”
Another succinctly concluded: “Yikes.”
In a previous encounter with Perry back in 2017, Trump had his own ‘bizarre moment’, according to the BBC.
Trump inquired about Perry’s origin, and told someone on the phone that he had “beautiful Irish press” in front of him.
He further commented: “She has a nice smile on her face, so I bet she treats you well.”
