A woman has ignited a discussion by asserting that feminism is ‘completely unnecessary’ while revealing that her husband compensates her with $100 weekly for managing their household chores.

The diversity in relationships means that what works for one couple might not suit another. Alyssa ‘Aly’ Dee, 28, and her husband Tom, 51, exemplify this with their unique arrangement that they find fulfilling.

The pair, who share an age difference of 23 years, first encountered each other while in the military. They have been married for nearly three years and are expecting their first child.

Aly discussed her transition to becoming a stay-at-home wife on an episode of Truly’s My Extraordinary Family. During her engagement to Tom, she was both studying and working outside, but sensed that her fiancé desired more of her attention. She concluded that staying at home would be mutually beneficial.

In an eight-minute YouTube interview, Aly explained, “The agreement was that if I sucked being a homemaker that I would go back to work.”

She stated, “I wouldn’t say I’m a feminist at all. I think that feminism is all bad.”

Aly elaborated, claiming, “Men love women so much that they would have liberated us after they fully liberated themselves anyway,” and described feminism as an unnecessary movement focused on female supremacy.

In their household, Aly takes on the majority of the cooking, cleaning, and laundry tasks, for which she receives $100 weekly. This amount, she claims, surpasses her former military earnings. She also makes efforts to manage the household budget carefully to avoid financial strain on her husband.

“There are feminists on Reddit who hate me,” she remarked, adding that many are single and over 30.

This episode, which aired on YouTube on November 11, has garnered over 13,500 views and sparked active discussions among viewers.

Some viewers criticized the arrangement, arguing that $100 isn’t sufficient compensation for the work involved. “Do your thing girl, but also, know your worth and don’t be afraid to ask for it! You deserve more than $400 a month for all that work,” one commented.

Another viewer shared a past experience, stating, “I dated a guy once who did the same thing to me. He wanted me to quit my job and stay home and he would give me $100 a week that being said I broke it off.”

Meanwhile, some admired the couple’s dynamic, with one person writing, “I wish I could find this……… a traditional marriage where the woman is HAPPY to stay home- cook and clean and doesn’t feel the need to freak out. This is such a diamond in the rough in 2024 in western cultures – 100$ aside or not who cares. He pays for everything for her in and out.”

Not everyone was supportive, however, as one user labeled the concept of a ‘traditional wife’ as toxic, citing feminism as a necessary movement for providing choices and freedom. “TRAD WIFE is so toxic. Feminism happened for a reason, they had no choices or options or freedom. This is odd.”

Another viewer criticized Aly’s viewpoint on feminism, saying, “I don’t care what you do in your own relationship. But to claim feminism is bad because ‘men love women so much that they would’ve liberated us after they were fully liberated anyway’ is a wild, stupid thing to say.”

Another remarked on financial considerations, stating, “Not my business, not my problem but girl get that raise with each kid because they want to eat and go places all day everyday.”
