Tim & Dee TV have addressed Haliey Welch’s recent comments regarding their role in her rise to fame.
Even if Haliey’s name doesn’t sound familiar, you might recognize her as ‘Hawk Tuah girl,’ the nickname that’s made her internet-famous.
This nickname originated from a video shared by Tim Dickerson and DeArius Marlow of Tim & Dee TV earlier this year.
In the video, they asked Haliey: “What’s one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time?”
Her response: “You gotta give ’em that ‘hawk tuah’ and spit on that thing,” which led to her being dubbed Hawk Tuah girl.
In the months that followed, Haliey’s recognition soared, leading to her very own podcast, Talk Tuah.
According to Marca, she’s now reportedly worth around $200,000 due to her viral success.
Recently, when questioned about expressing gratitude to Tim & Dee TV for her newfound fame, Haliey seemed hesitant.
On The Bobby Bones Show, when asked if she thanked them, she responded: “Tell him thank you for what?”
When reminded the video catapulted her to fame, she explained: “Well, see, we reached out to him and I asked him to stop posting those videos and he never did.”
“He blocked us all on everything. So I’m not telling him thank you for anything.”
Tim & Dee TV have now issued their response.
On November 19, they shared a clip of Haliey’s interview on Twitter with a meme showing a man holding cash, captioned ‘we changed this broke n**** life’.
The tweet has gathered 91,000 likes.
In the comments, they claimed they were ‘uncovering all the bulls***.’
Responding to criticism about asking Haliey a sexual question, they clarified: “They literally asked for a spicy question. Before I just asked how to get over a breakup and what makes her wife material.”
“Pretty reasonable questions if you ask me. Its literally all on video. Go watch the whole thing and stop yappin.”
In another reply, they asserted: “They approached us, saw the views we get & wanted the clout so they got it. Said multiple [times] to post the video so we did.”
“People be wanting their lil 15min fame but now it’s a problem? Playin victim. She Not a victim she a volunteer nobody forced that bih to be there.”
Tim & Dee TV’s comments follow their call for recognition due to Haliey’s success.
“At the end of the day, nobody would know who she was if we didn’t bring it to light and post it,” DeArius told the New York Times.
“A lot of the audience who hadn’t seen us before think we grew off this one clip. People were treating it like we’re nobodies and didn’t already have a platform.”
