Owners of Apple gadgets are advising iPhone users to avoid installing the latest iOS update.

iOS 18 was launched in September and quickly garnered a reputation for being ‘terrible’.

One of the primary complaints revolves around modifications to the Photos app, with some users going so far as to label it ‘unusable’.

Expressing their frustration on social media, one person exclaimed: “The photos app after the iOS 18 update is actually the worst thing to happen to any apple product ever like wtf is this sh*t.”

Now, Apple has introduced the iOS 18.1.1 update, and it has received similar backlash.

This update was made available on November 19, following the earlier releases of 18.1 and 18.01 in recent weeks.

Users have been voicing their opinions on the latest update on Twitter, with one individual writing: “iOS 18.1.1 is the nastiest piece of operating system omg.”

Another user described it as ‘the worst update ever’.

They commented: “I wish I could bring back the last version, but I was told by customer support that some of my information would be lost and I would have to do a total reset on my phone.

“The new updated photo and video editing and structure is so frustrating and not easy to work with anymore. The ‘favorites’ are gone. There’s an entirely new format to view photos and videos and it’s not easy to navigate through. The old version was much better.”

Continuing their complaints, they highlighted issues with video editing features and alleged their passwords ‘disappearing’ from their homepage, advising other iPhone users to ‘research the changes’ prior to updating.

Another user shared a chaotic screenshot depicting the latest update’s impact on their device.

Different users have labeled it ‘unusable’, while one remarked that the update has ‘made almost everything unrecognisable’.

According to the Apple website, 18.1.1 introduced a minor change compared to 18.1.

It notes: “This update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users.”

In contrast, 18.1 included a number of changes such as a new feature for recording voice and video calls, a hearing test feature to provide ‘scientifically validated hearing test results from the comfort of home’, and the resolution of a Podcasts issue where unplayed episodes were marked as played.
