A recent Netflix release has been described as a ‘slow burner,’ yet audiences are still hailing it as a ’10/10′ and ‘binge-worthy.’
If you’re searching for an escape from the swiftly passing year and the impending arrival of another, Netflix offers a new conspiracy thriller series that promises to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Get ready to clear your schedule for the next few days:
The series, titled The Madness, was created by Stephen Belber for Netflix with V. J. Boyd also serving as a showrunner. It features a stellar cast including Colman Domingo (The Color Purple), Marsha Stephanie Blake (When They See Us), and Gabrielle Graham (The Expanse).
The first season consists of eight episodes and centers on CNN media pundit Muncie Daniels (Domingo). He discovers a body in the woods of Pennsylvania, setting off a chain of chaotic events.
Although the first season only premiered on November 28, it has already sparked a flurry of reactions on social media.
The series was shared on the LADbible Facebook Group Netflix Bangers, prompting users to share their ratings.
One viewer commented, “I am watching this right now. 10 out of 10. Highly recommended.”
Another noted, “It’s definitely a slow burner but binge worthy.”
A third user shared, “Binged watched this today, absolutely brilliant.”
And a fourth added, “I was at the edge of my seat and binge watched all of it. I highly recommend it!”
In an interview with Deadline, Domingo discussed his future as an actor and the series, expressing a commitment to ‘making a difference’ and ‘doing things that matter in the world.’
“I can see the lines of my work very clearly because I’m very conscious of it. I’m not just gonna take the next thing that’s gonna bring me a lot of access and money or platform,” Domingo explained.
While no official announcement has been made about a second season, Domingo expressed interest: “Listen, I don’t really say this a lot about any show because I like going from moment to moment and having great moments in a show and moving on with my life and doing something else.”
“This show, I think there’s more from Muncie. I would really love to engage with a Season 2, so we’ll see if people think he’s got more story in him as well, so I hope people watch.”
The Madness is now available for streaming on Netflix.
