During a live broadcast, news networks missed spotting a prominent celebrity who was casually strolling down the street.

Usually, stars are accompanied by security personnel, but this particular Hollywood icon was simply enjoying a walk with their mother, unnoticed by the crowd.

The footage was captured by WCVB Channel 5 on December 1 during a segment focused on the festive atmosphere of Boston’s Newbury Street.

As the broadcaster filmed pedestrians going about their day, a very familiar face appeared—The Greatest Showman and Euphoria star, Zendaya.

The 28-year-old actress kept it casual in a puffer jacket with her hair flowing freely, linking arms with her mother, Claire Stoermer.

While the footage rolled, presenters speaking over it initially failed to recognize the Emmy Award-winning actor, despite her global fame.

However, viewers were quick to notice her and took to social media to express their surprise at seeing the celebrity featured on a local broadcast.

One such viewer was Chloe Mitchell, a Massachusetts resident, who was watching the news at the time.

Upon spotting Zendaya, she rewound the footage to capture the moment, sharing it on TikTok where it has garnered over 533,000 views.

Reflecting on the incident, Chloe mentioned to WVCB5: “We were watching Channel 5 and noticed that Zendaya was on the screen and I was like ‘Wait, what?’”

Another local resident, Helene Gulgergun, also noticed Zendaya and expressed her astonishment.

She told the news outlet: “It was such a surprise.

“She was walking with her adorable little dog and people were being very polite and nobody was hovering over her but she was just taking a walk on Newbury street during a beautiful day.”

Zendaya is believed to be in Boston for the filming of her upcoming movie, The Drama, alongside fellow A-lister Robert Pattinson.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the A24 film revolves around a couple whose relationship undergoes significant changes leading up to their wedding.

The release is anticipated for the following year.

The Drama marks the second project Zendaya has shot in Boston recently, the first being Challengers.

Challengers debuted earlier and has received an 88 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
