The storyline centers around the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, an all-Black, all-female group during World War II.
As stated by Netflix’s Tudum: “The 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion played a unique role in the war by tackling a backlog of 17 million undelivered mail pieces meant for American soldiers overseas.”
Despite facing discrimination and operating in unfamiliar territory amidst a global conflict, these 855 women delivered hope to the front lines.
Assigned a six-month timeframe to complete their task, the 6888th surpassed expectations, finishing the mission in under 90 days, boosting morale when the United States needed it the most.”
