The 47-year-old’s arrest was the result of collaboration between detectives from the child support division and the Miami Police Department, after he left the area to embark on a sea vacation.
Mike O’Connell, an attorney for Jefferson County, which includes Louisville, informed WDRB that Weaver owes more than $100,000 in unpaid child support, providing details of the situation.
O’Connell stated: “I don’t know when he left, but he fled the jurisdiction, and from the date of his sentence until today, and even today, he’s not paid one cent of child support.
“He was found, fortunately, but this is the interesting part by the Miami Police getting off a cruise ship last week in Miami.
“This is one of the most egregious events that brings something to light that I think I’ve ever seen.”
The attorney noted that the child support division has filed four cases against Weaver and indicated that ‘two more of those are ready for indictment again of more felonies’.
“I think it’s somewhere in the $114,000 to $120,000,” O’Connell added.
In 2021, Weaver owed just over $99,000 in child support and was at risk of several years in prison for his alleged evasion, as reported by the county attorney’s office.
O’Connell continued, “I’m going to ask the court at the next opportunity to revoke his sentence and sentencing to four years in the state penitentiary for this offense.”
“Our office does everything we can to work with people that have this obligation.
“I mean everything we can, you know, to the extent of even helping find employment and do things like that.”
Weaver is slated to appear in court on January 6.
In a different situation, Britney Spears has completed her child support payments to her ex-husband Kevin Federline after their youngest son, Jayden, finished high school last month.
The 43-year-old singer is believed to have paid around $5 million to Federline over 17 years for their two children following their separation.
While courts consider income and other factors, such a sum is undeniably substantial.
