A pregnant woman reportedly attacked 14 times in front of her young daughter by a pizza delivery driver has finally shared her experience.
On the night of December 22, just days before Christmas, Melinda Irizarry was at a motel in Kissimmee, near Orlando, Florida, with her partner and daughter. She was startled shortly after midnight by a loud knock at her door.

Upon opening the door, Brianna Alvelo, the accused, and an unnamed man allegedly entered, with the man reportedly holding a firearm to her boyfriend’s head.

The male suspect is said to have locked the boyfriend in the bathroom, while Alvelo allegedly went through their belongings, even destroying Irizarry’s daughter’s Nintendo Switch.

Finding nothing valuable, Alvelo allegedly turned on Irizarry, reportedly stabbing her with a pocket knife 14 times.

In her statement, Irizarry claims the attack only stopped when the male suspect told Alvelo it was time to go. She believes Alvelo’s intention was to kill her.

The authorities arrived at the scene, and Irizarry was hospitalized with injuries including a punctured lung. It was there she discovered she was several weeks pregnant.

Afterward, officers began reconstructing the events of the night. They allege that 22-year-old Alvelo had earlier delivered a pizza to Irizarry, which she described as cold and delayed.

Alvelo had delivered a $33.10 pizza, for which Irizarry paid $50, expecting change.

Alvelo informed her that the restaurant’s policy was not to give change, leading Irizarry to fetch smaller bills.

This resulted in a tip of under $2 for Alvelo, who allegedly rolled her eyes and left without a word, according to Irizarry’s statement.

Currently stable, Irizarry spoke from her hospital bed about the harrowing ordeal.

“Once I realized the severity of the situation, I’m like, ‘oh my God’. These people came in here to hurt us,” she said to Fox 35 Orlando.

“It wasn’t like she was just upset, it was like she was in a frenzy mode.”

She recounted how she cried and told her boyfriend she feared for her life, lamenting that her daughter witnessed the horror.

“My daughter, seeing that whole thing. You know? It’s pretty heartbreaking to me,” Irizarry continued.

Her boyfriend had pointed out where money could be found, but Alvelo did not take it, leading Irizarry to believe the attack was not financially motivated.

Both Irizarry and her boyfriend are now fearful that the male suspect may return to harm them.

“I am scared and he knows exactly how he [Irizarry’s boyfriend] looks. He stared at that man, for how long? With a gun pointed to his head.

“I want them to get him as soon as possible because they’re monsters. They should not be out in the street.”

Alvelo is currently detained in the Osceola County jail with a bail set at $55,000. The investigation is ongoing, and the male suspect’s identity remains unknown. Alvelo faces charges of attempted murder, home invasion with a firearm, kidnapping, and aggravated assault with a weapon.

The Sheriff’s office stated: “This was an isolated incident at this address, and the matter remains under investigation.”
