Jack was skiing at Cranmore Mountain in Conway, New Hampshire, on New Year’s Eve when he tragically collided with a tree on an intermediate trail. Authorities have confirmed that at the time of the accident, Jack was equipped with a helmet and other safety gear.
He was found unconscious and immediately taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His obituary states that he passed away surrounded by his mother, father, brother, cousin, and uncle.
In an interview with WCVB, Jack’s father shared the family’s immense sorrow over the abrupt accident.
He expressed: “He was skiing on a trail that was well within his ability. He was wearing his helmet and safety gear. Just kind of a one-in-a-million accident that, unfortunately, cut his life too short.”
Jack’s obituary highlighted the young boy’s numerous achievements and interests.
It stated: “Jack is the most magical little boy and was on his way to becoming a truly exceptional man. His positivity and laughter are infectious. He is a loving and patient person who always sees the best in people.
“Despite his short life, he did more in twelve years than most do in a lifetime. He was an artist and musician who loved to draw, paint, build, invent, play trombone, and drums.
“He was an entrepreneur who started an eBay store to sell thrift store finds. He sold cookies to local restaurants and sold and drew caricatures for the neighborhood with his friends.
“He even created a clothing brand, shirt designs, and built an online store all by himself. Jack has a passion for everything in life; he is a soccer player, assistant coach for Finn’s team, and referee in Weymouth Youth Soccer.
“He was on the Chapman Wrestling team, loved basketball, paddle boarding with his mother, swimming, boating with his father, and movies at the Cameo with friends.”
In memory of Jack, the family has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to donate to the Maria Chapman Middle School Band, where Jack was a member.
Since its creation four days ago, the campaign has raised $85,000 from over 1,400 donations, with many donors offering heartfelt messages of support for Jack’s family.
