Supporters of Cher have been vocal following her recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel, which seemed to take an unexpected turn.
The ‘Goddess of Pop’ made an appearance on the late-night show in Los Angeles on Tuesday night (January 7), where the TV host put her under the spotlight.

During the interview, Cher discussed the first installment of her memoir, which topped the New York Times bestseller list for six weeks after its release in November of the previous year.

The second part, Cher: The Memoir, the Goddess of Pop, is scheduled for release on November 18 this year. As the conversation progressed, things got a bit tense.

It’s widely known that interacting with Cher can be as intense as playing with fire.

Kimmel attempted to ‘assist’ her with the second part of her memoir by asking some rapid-fire questions about her life.

Before diving into the questions, he inquired: “The second part of your book, have you finished that yet? Is it done?”

Cher laughed off the question and admitted she hadn’t ‘even started it,’ but Kimmel continued to press, which seemed to strike a chord with the 78-year-old star.

“Is that true?” he continued, suggesting that the November release date might not be feasible.

Cher retorted: “I know but I finished [the first] book, five.. I mean, I was late.”

“So, it’s not coming out in November?” Kimmel asked again, to which Cher firmly answered: “Yes, it is.”

She rolled her eyes as Kimmel joked: “We’ll see,” before questioning further: “What November of what year?”

Cher declined the host’s offer to assist with the book, simply saying ‘no’.

In his rapid question round, Kimmel asked various questions such as whether she’s visited Costco, played a video game, or if her driver’s license has a last name.

Cher disclosed that she has a court-approved special dispensation to omit a second name from her legal documents.

The Californian singer then named Barack Obama, Tina Turner, and Ray Charles as the most intimidating individuals she has met.

Before Kimmel could proceed with his next question, Cher shut him down.

He began: “If you could turn back time…” but Cher interrupted, saying: “This is so dumb.”

Fans have since applauded Cher for the entertaining interview, commenting online that it was a ‘great watch’.

“I love your honesty and frankness, it’s the Cher we all love!” one fan wrote, while another added: “No matter her age. She speaks her mind, she is funny, she is kind.”

Others noted her genuine yet diva-like demeanor is what endears her to so many.

“This why I love Cher! She is 100 percent genuine and naturally funny and easy going… with a twist of sarcasm,” another fan remarked.

After chuckling at her own retort, Cher finally responded to Kimmel’s question, admitting she wouldn’t know which year to ‘turn back to’ because she’s ‘dyslexic’ but ultimately chose when she was 60 years old.

The playful exchange seemed to be taken in stride, with Cher commenting at the interview’s conclusion about Kimmel: “You’re a lot nicer and funnier than I thought you would be.”
