This psychological thriller, consisting of one season with six episodes, is adapted from Sarah Pinborough’s 2017 novel of the same title.
Developed by Steve Lightfoot, the supernatural series, Behind Her Eyes, was first released on Netflix in February 2021.
The story follows single mother Louise Barnsley, who becomes romantically involved with her new employer, Dr. David Ferguson, while also befriending his wife, Adele. If this sounds unusual, the series’ twists and turns are even more unexpected, leaving viewers unprepared for the surprises it unfolds.
Simona Brown, Tom Bateman, Eve Hewson, and Robert Aramayo headline the cast of Behind Her Eyes.
Despite being released nearly four years ago, some Netflix users have only recently discovered it.

The Rotten Tomatoes score for Behind Her Eyes might not be very reassuring, holding a Tomatometer rating of 63 and an average Popcornmeter score of 57.
Nonetheless, a Netflix subscriber shared on the LADbible Facebook Group Netflix Bangers, quoting a tweet: “Alright tell me a movie that made you stare blankly at a wall for 20 minutes after it finished. One that you couldn’t stop thinking about and made you question everything.”
Although it’s not a film, one viewer quickly replied: “Behind Her Eyes. That ending had me shook for two years straight. All my curiosity about Astral projection ended before it even began.”
“Gosh, me too,” echoed another.
A third person remarked: “When I hear someone asking me to recommend them a movie/series with the craziest plot twist this is the first series that comes to my mind.”
A fourth added: “Me too. I wasn’t expecting that ending at all (although that’s nothing unusual for me haha)! I need to rewatch it to look for the signs now.”
Another concluded: “Behind Her Eyes. I was messed up for hours.”
Currently, there appears to be no plans for a second season of Behind Her Eyes, much to fans’ disappointment.
Given that the first season follows the novel’s complete storyline, it’s unlikely another season will be made. Fans will have to come to terms with their lingering bewilderment and frustration—sometimes, stories aren’t neatly resolved.
