Netflix has shared the full list of controversial rules for Mike Tyson and Jake Paul’s boxing match, which is set to go ahead in just a couple of days.

Well folks, it’s finally happening, ‘Iron Mike’ is set to head into the ring to face off against Jake ‘The Problem Child’ Paul in one of the most highly anticipated boxing matches of the year.

The bout was rescheduled after 58-year-old Tyson suffered a health scare earlier in the year while on-board a flight to Los Angeles.

However, with the fight now finally going ahead, should Tyson pass two final medical tests, here is everything you need to know about the rules.

How do I watch Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson?

The fight will be taking place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas tomorrow night (15 November), which means viewers in the UK will have to tune in during the early hours of Saturday (16 November) morning if they want to watch along.

Paul vs Tyson is being broadcast live on Netflix, with subscribers being able to watch the fight for no extra cost.

However, anyone watching without a TV license should be aware of this little known rule which could see you landed with an £1,000 fine if you decide to broadcast the bout live.

Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight rules explained

The fight between Paul and Tyson will look slightly different to your standard boxing match, due to several conditions being in place.

Each round will last for two minutes, which is less than the standard three minutes you typically see in professional boxing. Additionally, the pair will only fight for eight rounds, instead of the usual 12.

The next difference will be the gloves, with both boxers using heavier 14-ounce gloves instead of 10-ounce ones. A heavier glove means that more shock will be absorbed by the glove’s padding, instead of the fist and point of contact on the opposition fighter.

Neither Tyson or Paul will be wearing headgear during the bout and there will be the standard three judges at ringside who will score each round (should no knockout occur).

These rules have been approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations.

What are the rules for the other fights on the night?

Alongside Paul vs Tyson, there will also be a co-main event which involves a re-match between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, two years after the pair headlined a sold out event at Madison Square Garden. The fight ended with a narrow split decision in favour of Taylor.

In regards to the rules for Taylor vs Serrano, Netflix has stated the fight will follow the traditional women’s boxing rules of 10 two-minute rounds.

Meanwhile, the two undercard fights will be Mario Barrios vs Abel Ramos and Neeraj Goyat vs Whindersson Nunes.Featured Image Credit: Netflix

How to watch the Paul vs Tyson fight in the UK if you don’t have Netflix

The highly anticipated bout marks Netflix’s first foray into live boxing.

Despite being slated to take place this summer, Jake Paul is finally set to take on legendary boxer Mike Tyson. And for the first time ever, the boxing match will be shown live solely on Netflix.

This is the streaming giant’s inaugural foray into broadcasting live combat sports on the platform. And if you already have Netflix, you’ll be happy to know that there is no extra cost to watch the fight. Or, you could even technically watch it for free by signing up to a certain deal. Read on to find out more..

How to watch Paul vs. Tyson

If you don’t already have Netflix, there is a workaround to essentially get it for free as part of a package deal. At the moment Sky are offering Sky Stream, with Sky TV, Sky Full Fibre 300 Broadband and Netflix, all for just £36. And given that their Full Fibre 300 broadband is usually £29 a month, for just £10 more you’ll also get access to Sky TV and Netflix for not much more.

So, if you were already thinking about switching your broadband or trying out Sky TV, doing so via this deal makes a lot of sense.

If you’d prefer to sign up for Netflix just to watch the fight, Netflix does have a budget-friendly option, costing less than a fiver a month. This means you could sign up for one month and only have to pay £4.99 to watch the bout. It is worth mentioning that this option does include adverts but two devices in your household can watch Netflix at the same time, making it a good option if someone would prefer to watch something other than the boxing that evening.

If you don’t want adverts to interrupt the action, there’s the Standard plan, which comes with all the same benefits but without any ads, for £10.99 a month. Or, if you want the most premium option, the £17.99 a month package allows you to watch on four devices at the same time and has a 4K (Ultra HD) + HDR resolution.

Viewers can tune in live to watch the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson match on Netflix on Friday, 15 November.

What to know about the fight

The fight, which will be sanctioned as a professional bout and contested over eight two-minute rounds, marks Tyson’s return to the ring after four years.

And given that the showdown was originally postponed on medical advice, after Tyson reportedly became unwell while aboard a flight from Miami to Los Angeles earlier this summer, it will be interesting to see if this changes anything.

While it was ultimately blamed on an ulcer flare up, with the fight being pushed back to allow him to recover, his last exhibition match was back in 2020, with his last professional fight taking place back in 2005.

In contrast, Paul’s last fight was earlier this year when he beat American boxer Ryan Bourland in a first round knock-out.

As the youngest Heavyweight Champion in history, Tyson has a record of 50 wins and 6 losses over his 20-year career, with 44 of those wins being knock-outs. While YouTuber and former WWE Champion, Paul, has won nine fights – of which six were knockouts – with one loss.

Paul also has the height advantage at 6ft 1in compared to Tyson’s 5ft 10in frame. But given that all but one of Tyson’s former opponents were taller than him, this might not be as concerning as it sounds. Despite Tyson’s experience and storied career, the biggest factor could be their 30 year age difference. But time will tell exactly what kind of impact this will have on the fight.

The highly anticipated bout will be held at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. And it isn’t the only matchup on the card. In the co-main event, undisputed super lightweight world champion Katie Taylor is set for a rematch against unified featherweight champion Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano.

Timings have still to be confirmed but we will let you know as soon as we do.

Here’s everything you need to know about the bout between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson on Netflix

Rules of watching the long-awaited fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson on Netflix have been revealed.

One of the biggest boxing events of the year is set to take place this Friday night, or in the early hours of Saturday (16 November) if you’re in the UK, headlined by a YouTuber and a former undisputed heavyweight champion.

What a world we live in.

What to know about the clash between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson

The event will take place in the US at the 80,000 capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, between ‘Iron Mike’ and ‘The Problem Child’.

That’s as long as Tyson can pass two health tests prior to their bout, after their original fight was postponed following a health scare for the 58-year-old.

The headline match-up between Tyson and Paul, who is 31 years his junior, will round off a night of seven clashes, including a rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano for the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO and Ring lightweight titles.

After the former pulled out of their bout, Paul defeated replacement fighter, former UFC star Mike Perry, in six rounds.

But now, fans are ready to see the two finally face off, eight months on from their original fight announcement, as Tyson makes his second sensational return to the ring after coming out of a 15-year retirement in 2020 to fight Roy Jones Jr.

Will there be a pay-per-view fee for the Netflix fight?

The fight was announced to be available to stream on Netflix, but users have been curious if an additional PPV fee would apply to watch the fight.

Well, not needing to pay an extra fee for such a big boxing clash almost seems too good to be true, right?

Wrong – the Paul vs Tyson clash will be available on a standard Netflix subscription at no extra cost, as a current plan with adverts will set you back £4.99 a month, while a standard subscription with no ads costs £10.99 per month.

A premium subscription, which allows you to watch on four devices and add two members of a separate household, will set you back £17.99, monthly.

In theory, this means you could just sign up for a month if you don’t have the streaming service, and pay less than a fiver.

It’s important to note that you need a TV license in order to watch Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson, as the BBC told LADbible earlier this year that you require a license to watch any live event on Netflix.

If you don’t, you could be facing a £1,000 fine.

Can I watch the fight if I don’t have Netflix?

If you don’t already have Netflix, there is a workaround to essentially get it for free as part of a package deal. At the moment Sky are offering Sky Stream, with Sky TV, Sky Full Fibre 300 Broadband and Netflix, all for just £36 as part of a limited-time Black Friday deal. And given that their Full Fibre 300 broadband is usually £29 a month, for just £10 more you’ll also get access to Sky TV and Netflix for not much more.

When you should tune into Netflix

The undercard will start at 1.00am UK time (8.00pm ET) on 16 November, though Paul and Tyson are only set to make their way to the ring around 4.00am UK time (11.00pm ET).

If you’re interested in tuning into the weigh-in, this is meant to take place on Thursday (14 November) at 1.00am UK time (8.00pm ET).

It is unclear how big Paul will be coming in, having bulked up to just north of 100kg for their original date, though he revealed on the TimboSugarShow podcast that he aims to be at around the same weight at 224 lbs (101kg).

Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson viewers given £1,000 TV Licence warning for streaming fight on Netflix

Netflix is hosting the huge boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are set to finally enter a boxing ring with their headline bout live on Netflix. But for those tuning in from the United Kingdom, a £1,000 TV Licence warning comes with watching the hugely anticipated fight.

Iron Mike, the former undisputed world heavyweight champion, will go up against YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday (16 November) with millions expected to tune in across the world.

Originally meant to take place on 20 July, the fight had to be rescheduled after Tyson ‘thought he was doing to die’ after suffering a rather terrifying health incident.

Fast-forward four months and everyone is ready to go at the second attempt, with fans chomping at the bit after Tyson and Paul sat down this week for a face-to-face.

With the fight taking place in the United States of America, it’ll be a rather unsociable fight time for UK viewers tuning in, with Paul and Tyson expected to complete their ring walks at 4am GMT on Saturday.

But if you’re set to tune in and watch it live, you face a £1,000 fine in the UK. And it is all to do with the TV Licence.

Netflix and live events

Netflix is doing more live events than ever before as part of its offerings to subscribers, with the WWE set to move to the streaming giant in 2025.

One recent event was The Netflix Slam, a tennis special between Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, streamed live from Las VegasThe Roast of Tom Brady also streamed live with comedians taking the p*ss out of Brady for hours on end.

And then there is the aforementioned Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight, which is now just days away.

TV Licence and Netflix

First thing is first, you don’t need to pay for a TV Licence to have Netflix.

If you watch its catalogue of films, television shows, or the true crime documentaries, keep watching and enjoying.

But the rules of the TV Licence state that you need to pay for one if you watch live television, or live content as it is streamed.

Earlier this year, the BBC – which is funded by the TV Licence – told LADbible that if you’re watching any live event on Netflix, you need a TV Licence.

It is the same if you’re watching live Premier League matches on Amazon Prime Video.

The BBC said: “A TV Licence is needed to watch live content on streaming services, watch or record a TV programme on any channel and when using BBC iPlayer. Further information is available on the TV Licensing website or via the customer services team, who can help with any queries.”

What will happen to me if I don’t pay my TV Licence?

Historically, those who don’t pay for a TV Licence but watch live television are hauled before magistrates’ courts where they can face fines of £1,000.

It is the second most common crime in the country, behind driving offences.

Going forward, this could drastically change with the current Labour government saying it wants decriminalise non-payment.

Lisa Nandy, the culture secretary, and Shabana Mahmood, the justice secretary, have highlighted that those prosecuted are ‘disproportionately’ women. A senior government source said: “The administrative burden of policing non-payment of the licence fee should not be falling on the taxpayer. It should be carved out. It’s not worth the hassle it creates.”Featured Image Credit: Ed Mulholland / Sportsfile via Getty Images / John Nacion / Getty Images

Mike Tyson feared he was 'going to die' before pulling out of Jake Paul fight in new Netflix documentary

Mike Tyson feared he was ‘going to die’ before pulling out of Jake Paul fight in new Netflix documentary

The highly-anticipated bout between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson is set to take place next week

Mike Tyson has spoken out about the terrifying health incident that led to him initially pulling out of his fight with Jake Paul.

The Heavyweight boxing legend is set to fight the controversial influencer and ex-Disney star Friday, 15 November.

Prior to this, Tyson ended up pulling out of their originally scheduled fight in July, with the event eventually being rescheduled.

The former heavyweight champion suffered a medical emergency on a plane where his representatives said he began to feel ‘nauseous and dizzy’, which was due to an ‘ulcer flair-up’ before landing.

Afterwards, the star spoke about the incident, telling his X followers that he was feeling ‘100 percent’.

And now, Tyson has revealed more in a newly released Netflix documentary, Countdown: Paul vs Tyson, which chronicles the lead up to the event from both fighter’s perspectives.

Countdown: Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson trailer

In the documentary, the boxer reveals that in the incident he was ‘throwing up blood’ and feared he was ‘going to die’.

He said: “A week and a half ago I was training and I was doing great but then all of a sudden I started feeling tired.

“I was explaining to my trainer, ‘I don’t know what’s wrong with me’.

“Coming here from Miami on the plane, I went to the bathroom, and I threw up blood. The next thing I know I’m on the floor, I was defecating tar.

“So, I came here, and they found I had a big ulcer, two-and-a-half inches, and it was bleeding. All my friends were calling me like I was dying.”

Tyson continued: “I asked the doctor if I was going to die, and she didn’t say no. She said we have options though, and that’s when I got nervous.

“I can’t wait to get out of this motherf**ker, man. God, I want to fight and start training. I don’t want to die in the hospital bedroom, I want to die in the ring.

“You wouldn’t believe what I endured from my ulcer. I lost 26 pounds, can you imagine that? I was so p*ssed off because I had peaked. I was good, talking sh*t, ready. “

Paul also gave his reaction to the news in the documentary, saying: “When I received the news that he was out and not able to fight, I was just numb, I was just like, ‘f**k’.”

The YouTuber went on to say: “Nobody can tell Mike Tyson what to do, and if he wants to fight me, of course I’m going to say yes.

“This is the opportunity of a lifetime to fight one of the two most famous boxers to ever live – Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson.

“I look at Mike Tyson as a killer, so I never really expected something like this.”
