Barry Keoghan has released a detailed statement addressing the ‘lies, hatred and disgusting commentary’ that surfaced following speculations about his breakup with Sabrina Carpenter.
Keoghan had to deactivate his Instagram account after being bombarded with negative messages due to allegations of infidelity with his ex-girlfriend, Sabrina.

A source informed Us Weekly that Keoghan was ‘very devoted to her happiness,’ but the couple parted ways because they were ‘at different places in their lives.’

“It’s been challenging for their relationship since she started going on tour and has been gone a lot,” the source mentioned.

“Their schedules were not aligning. All the time spent apart made it difficult to maintain a relationship amid her career taking off.”

The source added that the singer was ‘being pulled in so many directions’ that she didn’t have the time to ‘commit to a relationship.’

Nonetheless, the Saltburn actor has since turned to Twitter, urging fans to ‘be respectful,’ stating he can ‘only sit and take so much.’

Keoghan expressed that he felt it necessary to address the online discourse dragging his name through the mud because ‘too many lines are being crossed’ after his grandmother’s house was targeted.

“I deactivated my account because I can no longer let this stuff distract from my family and my work. The messages I have received, no person should ever have to read them,” he explained.

“Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent, and every other inhumane thing you can imagine.”

The 32-year-old criticized those who had been ‘dragging [his] character and everything [he] worked extremely hard for and stands for.’ He noted that people had been discussing him being a ‘heroine baby’ and his upbringing, involving his mother in conversations, knocking on his grandmother’s door, and even sitting outside his son’s home to intimidate him.

“That’s crossing a line. Each and every day I work harder to push myself on every level to be the healthiest and strongest person for that boy,” he stated.

“I want to provide opportunities for him to learn, fail, and grow. I want him to be able to look up to his daddy, to have full trust in me, and know I will have his back no matter what.”

The Irish actor concluded his statement by reminding fans that his son will eventually read all the comments made about his father online, once again urging people to be respectful.
