Dominique Brown was known for co-founding BlackGirlDisney, an Instagram page with over 18,000 followers.
She also had a personal Instagram account with 18,500 followers, where her most recent post was shared just three days prior to the incident.
Reports suggest Brown was attending a festive food event organized by BoxLunch in Los Angeles on Thursday (December 5) when she began feeling unwell.
According to an acquaintance, Brown had a known peanut allergy and became ill after tasting food at the event, feeling unwell almost immediately.
It is claimed that Brown informed the event staff of her allergy, and they reassured her that the dishes were peanut-free.
Despite this, she suffered a severe allergic reaction. Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that CPR was administered while emergency services were contacted.
Sadly, the influencer could not recover and passed away.
BoxLunch released a statement expressing their sorrow over Brown’s death.
“We are devastated by the passing of Dominique Brown, a beloved member of the BoxLunch Collective, who suffered a medical emergency at an event hosted by BoxLunch on Thursday in Los Angeles,” a spokesperson told PEOPLE.
“Our hearts go out to her family and friends, and we will do everything we can to support them and the members of the BoxLunch Collective and our team during this painful time.”

Meanwhile, Brown’s brother responded to her final Instagram post, expressing how much he will miss her.
He wrote: “Hi everyone, this is @pramos313 – Dominique’s brother.
“I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to her social media fam for showing her so much love and light.”
The message continued: “Disney did bring her joy, but it was unparalleled that she found a community who loved her and Disney as much as she did. I will miss my sister and best friend and that infectious smile she always had.
“Thank you, truly, from the bottom of my heart.”
Tributes from followers have been pouring in following Brown’s sudden passing.
One person wrote: “I’ve just been sitting here thinking of what to say because I can’t process that you aren’t here.”
“Thank you for creating and holding space for all of Black Disney girls. I hope you know you that you are so deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. Love you so so much.”
Another follower said: “I truly cannot believe this. I’m so heartbroken right now. I’m so sorry, Domo. I’m gonna miss you so much!! Love you, angel.”
Another described Brown as ‘a beacon of light in this community’.
