This five-part series comes from the creator of popular Netflix titles like Fool Me Once, Safe, and The Stranger, all of which have received Rotten Tomatoes scores above 70 percent.
Based on a novel by Harlan Coben, the series follows Detective Kat Donovan, portrayed by Rosalind Eleazar, who is shocked to find her ex-fiancé, Josh, on a dating app. The twist? Josh vanished 11 years ago.
This unexpected discovery forces Donovan to confront past traumas and hidden secrets, including the unresolved mystery of her father’s death. True to Harlan Coben’s style, the series is packed with unexpected twists and turns.
Named Missing You, the series premiered on Netflix on January 1, and viewers are already raving about it, declaring themselves ‘addicted’.
A fan tweeted, “Missing You on Netflix is a fantastic watch,” while another wrote, “Missing You on Netflix is the best thing I’ve watched in ages so so good.”
Some viewers admitted to completing all five episodes in a single day. One person commented, “Just finished Missing You on Netflix in one day. Did not disappoint! You can see how exciting my New Years Day went, can’t you?”
Another viewer said, “On the fourth episode of five of #MissingYou on @NetflixUK. Nothing better than binge-watching the new @HarlanCoben, cuddled up in the warm, when the weather is bleak outside!”
Harlan Coben discussed the mysteries within his new series with Netflix’s Tudum, stating, “There’s a bigger conspiracy at work here, one that Kat has to really uncover. It starts very, very small, but at the end of Episode 1, you realize this is going to be something that affects a lot of people.
“But mostly it’s about the heart. It’s about that longing. Most of us have someone in our lives who we’ve dated and, in a sense, is a ‘what if.’ And for Kat, this is the ultimate ‘what if.’”
Fans of Coben’s previous work might recognize some familiar actors in the series, with Richard Armitage, Marc Warren, and James Nesbitt returning for roles in this new mystery.
With so many intriguing elements, the question is, why aren’t you watching it already?
