This absence of joint red carpet appearances is notable, considering the couple has been dating since at least 2021. They first appeared together in the 2016 movie “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”
Since their initial collaboration, Holland has featured in several Marvel films, while Zendaya has starred in hits such as “Dune: Part Two” and “Challengers.” The scarcity of joint photos isn’t due to a lack of events to attend.
In a recent interview with Men’s Health, Holland discussed his approach to red carpet events and life under public scrutiny.
The 28-year-old actor admitted that being in the limelight affects his everyday activities, often requiring extra precautions when he goes out.
He shared an example about attending a play: “It’s booked in advance, we sort it all out, we call ahead to the theater and make sure we can get somewhere private.”
Aware that his presence might shift focus from the event, Holland explained he generally avoids non-essential public appearances, except for Zendaya’s premieres.
Holland does attend to support Zendaya but opts not to walk the red carpet with her.
He explained: “Because it’s not my moment, it’s her moment, and if we go together, it’s about us.”
Despite being at the height of his career, Holland has spoken about contemplating a future away from Hollywood.
“When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore,” he said, mentioning two pursuits he would focus on instead: “Golf and dad.”
“I will just disappear off the face of the earth,” he mentioned.
Holland has previously expressed his intention to keep his relationship with Zendaya private, telling The Hollywood Reporter in 2023 that they are ‘incredibly protective’ of their romance.
“We don’t think that we owe it to anyone, it’s our thing, and it has nothing to do with our careers,” he remarked at the time.
