The only meeting between Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie before Aniston’s separation from Brad Pitt has come back into the spotlight as Pitt and Jolie have finally resolved their divorce proceedings.
After more than eight years of legal wrangling, Pitt and Jolie have settled on December 30, marking the end of their contentious divorce just in time for the New Year.

This resolution follows Jolie’s divorce filing on September 19, 2016, citing irreconcilable differences, a couple of years after she and Pitt had wed.

The couple had been together for a total of 12 years and had six children together at the time Jolie initiated the divorce.

Before his relationship with Jolie, Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston, known for her role on Friends, after meeting her through his manager.

Pitt and Aniston initially kept their relationship private until they married in 2000, during Aniston’s time on Friends.

Three years into their marriage, Pitt met Jolie on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, a film where they portrayed a married couple, while Pitt was still with Aniston.

By 2005, Aniston and Pitt had parted ways, and by January 2006, Jolie’s children’s surnames had been changed to Jolie-Pitt.

In a 2005 interview with Vanity Fair, Aniston recounted an encounter with Jolie on the Warner Bros. Studios lot in California, where she was filming Friends.

She recalled introducing herself to Jolie, saying: “I pulled over and introduced myself. I said, ‘Brad is so excited about working with you. I hope you guys have a really good time!’”

Reflecting on their breakup, Aniston expressed that she ‘chose to believe’ her marriage did not end due to another woman.

Upon seeing images of Pitt and Jolie together, she remarked: “The world was shocked, and I was shocked. I can’t say it was one of the highlights of my year. Who would deal with that and say, ‘Isn’t that sweet! That looks like fun!?’ But s*** happens. You joke and say, ‘What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’.

Angelina Jolie’s attorney, James Simon of Hersh Mannis, shared with CNN that Jolie feels ‘relieved’ following the settlement with Pitt.

Mannis commented, “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

Jolie had filed for divorce following a 2016 incident where she accused Pitt of physical assault and verbal abuse towards their children during a private jet flight. The FBI had confirmed that Pitt was neither arrested nor charged with any crimes related to the accusation.
